Kisumu become a zone of violence after post-election in Kenya last year.

Business and life in Kisumu town has come back to normal after much publicity for the wrong reasons during the post -election violence.
The lakeside city which was one of the most adversely affected places by the post poll skirmishes has gotten over the past the town is gradually picking up the pieces and returning to normal life.
Newly elected mayor Sam Okello says the town should not be given a negative perception saying everything had returned to normal and the residents are now looking forward to better services.
Okello said that as part of the council's plans to revive and transform the town, long and short-term projects were being addressed.
He said that as part of the plans, the council was looking at addressing major problems facing the town such as inadequate housing, water shortage, garbage collection, poor road infrastructure and illegally erected stalls by hawkers along the major roads.
